چکیده

We describe a generalization of traditional coherence that estimates the relationship between frequency components of one or two signals at different frequencies. The key idea of this technique is to apply amplitude modulation to one of the signals prior to a traditional coherence analysis. The modulated coherence includes traditional coherence as a special case. This is useful for identifying nonlinear relationships in stochastic signals that cannot be determined by traditional analysis methods based on second-order statistics. We demonstrate the usefulness of modulated coherence on synthetic signals, an electrocardiogram, and a tremor recording.

Optical ASK and FSK Modulation By Using Quantum Well Transistor Lasers

In this paper, transistor lasers (TLs) are used as an optical modulator for generation of ASK(Amplitude Shift Keying) and FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) optical signals. Our analysis is based on continuity equation, rate equations, and the theory of discontinuity of quasi-fermi level at the abrupt junction. Our simulation results indicate that, the specification of ASK and FSK optical signals, ar...

Study of Ultra-weak CW and Amplitude-Modulated Microwaves effects on stem Cell Proliferation: an Experimental and Hypothetical Approach

Weak microwave radiation (WMR) in our environment has raised health concerns in the public. Among those, communication frequencies are more than ever becoming widespread and their effects need thorough studies. A correct understanding of these effects in-vivo by in-vitro experiments shall preferentially use primary cells. In this study we compared non-modulated (CW) and modulated WMR exposure o...

Time-Frequency Coherence for Periodic-Aperiodic Decomposition of Speech Signals

Decomposing speech signals into periodic and aperiodic components is an important task, finding applications in speech synthesis, coding, denoising, etc. In this paper, we construct a time-frequency coherence function to analyze spectro-temporal signatures of speech signals for distinguishing between deterministic and stochastic components of speech. The narrowband speech spectrogram is segment...

Application of Wavelet Scalogram and Coscalogram for Analysis of Biomedical Signals

In this paper, using wavelet scalograms and coscalogram of concurrent biomedical signals we were able to detect their short-lived temporal interactions. The complete analysis should include investigation of signal coherence in amplitude and phase. This is achieved with a continuous complex wavelet transform. Thus, in the algorithms developed, we use the Morlet wavelet transform and some measure...

Quadrature Amplitude Modulated Digital Radio Transmission Modeling and Simulation

Computer aided design and computer aided modeling tools are becoming increasingly important in the design and performance evaluation of communication systems. In this work, we report on the computer simulation modeling study of terrestrial digital microwave radio transmission, using Block Oriented System Simulator package (BOSS). The work concentrates on semi-analytical error rate evaluation in...
